1989年在南半球最古老的高爾夫俱樂部Gymkhana的餐廳裏，幾個台灣同鄉聚在一起話家常。那時的他們，滿腔的鄉愁，思念著遙遠的家鄉。在台商裘先知先生的發起下，他們決定成立台灣旅模同鄉聯誼會。希望透過這個小小的團體，凝聚起遠離家鄉的心靈，互相慰藉，共同渡過在異鄉的寂寞與惆悵。起初，聚餐的人數不足10人，但隨著時間的推移，越來越多的同鄉加入了這個溫暖的大家庭。他們的聚會不再侷限於聚餐，而是擴展到更多的活動與社交中。他們一起慶祝台灣的節日，分享自己的故事和心情，共同努力。現在的同鄉聚會已經發展成為一個龐大的群體。在歷屆會長柴彭程、陳廣、陳家範、黃鳳鶯、管世金、林琦珍、朱惠智、莫雅媛等會長的帶領下，同鄉會逐漸壯大。近年來，同鄉會更成為同鄉們聚會的重要場所，為大家提供了交流和互助的平台。在同鄉會的互相照顧下，許多同鄉都能夠在異鄉找到一份歸屬感，這也是同鄉會存在的意義所在。

如今，我們正邁向一個新的階段。2024年是台灣旅模同鄉聯誼會正式成為海外僑民團體『模里西斯台灣同鄉會』的時刻。這不僅是對過去努力的肯定，更是對未來的憧憬和期待。我們將以更加正式和有條理的方式組織我們的活動，並為同鄉們帶來更多福利和支持，讓每一位同鄉都感受到我們大家庭的溫暖。期待著您的加入。讓我們攜手並肩，共同書寫屬於模里西斯台灣同鄉會的精彩故事！

In 1989, at the restaurant of Gymkhana, the oldest golf club in the southern hemisphere, several Taiwanese compatriots gathered to chat. At that time, they were filled with homesickness, longing for their distant homeland. Under the initiative of Taiwanese entrepreneur Mr. Qiu Xianzhi, they decided to establish a Taiwanese Association in Mauritius. They hoped that through this small group, they could gather the hearts of those far from home, console each other, and overcome the loneliness and melancholy of being in a foreign land together. Initially, the number of people dining together was less than 10, but as time went by, more and more compatriots joined this warm family. Their gatherings expanded beyond just dining to include more activities and socializing. They celebrated Taiwanese holidays together, shared their stories and feelings, and worked together. The current compatriot gatherings have grown into a large group. Under the leadership of past presidents such as Benso Chai, Chen Guang, Chen Jiafan, Huang Fengying, Rober Koon, Chi Chen Lin, Nadia Zhu, Lydia Mo, and others, the association has gradually grown stronger. In recent years, the association has become an important venue for compatriots to gather, providing a platform for communication and mutual assistance. With the care and support of the association, many compatriots have been able to find a sense of belonging in a foreign land, which is the true meaning of the association's existence.

Now, we are stepping into a new phase. The year 2024 marks the moment when the Association officially became the "Taiwanese Association of Mauritius". This is not only a recognition of past efforts but also a vision and expectation for the future. We will organize our activities in a more formal and orderly manner, and bring more benefits and support to our compatriots, so that every compatriot can feel the warmth of our big family.
